Would you like to go on an adventure back in time? Where you would be like the first mountain man, just you and the vast wilderness?! Then join us on our unique horseback trip to the turn of the 20th century at the “Historic Gilmore Ranch”!!
This is a one of a kind trip by horse back into this roadless area, where we live as they did a hundred years ago. We stay overnight in the original 1930’s Barton Cabin and by day ride into the forest, hike, or fish a mountain stream. In the evening we sit around the camp fire and reminisce after viewing deer, elk or moose grazing in the meadow before the sun sets.
The Gilmore Brothers (Elmer, Fred and Sam), homesteaded the area in the late 1800’s and had a Bed and Breakfast, lodging riders passing through during the Gold rush days. They raised cattle and farmed the land with the farm equipment still standing in the meadows.
Fred lived in the side of the mountain and Elmer had the B&B lodge. Sam built a cabin, but never lived in it and it still stands as a ghost from the past. There is so much history here and we would love to share it with you!
Cost is $425.00 per person for 2 full days and 1 night at the historic cabin.
