Spring season April 15th – May 30th
Fall Season Septemver 01st – September 30th
We have extended bear season this year and we will be running baits in a new area. Space is limited on this hunt Book Early.Gilmore Ranch Bear hunts take place in our traditional back country camp and is done on horseback. It is an easy hunt and you will see elk, deer and moose in their natural habitat just feet from the cabin door. Shooting Oppurtunity on our bear hunts has been 95% for the past decade.
There is no other hunting pressure in this area and we hunt over bait in the afternoons. Which also gives you some time to do some unguided Merriam Turkey hunting in the morning. We start baiting weeks before our hunts start to assure the bears area working the baits. We only take 4-6 hunters each Spring and Fall on these hunts. So book early. If you are looking for that color phase black bear we have a very large population of color phase bears taken eavery year.
Elk in the meadow right outside the cabin during one of our bear hunts. Spring is the most perfect time at the Historic Gilmore Ranch! This is a must see! Spring bear hunts are a wonderful hunt for the entire family. You are guaranteed to see many elk and deer in the meadow right outside the cabin each evening. The Gilmore Ranch is a natural calving ground for the elk, a great way to see these majestic animals close up and personel.
Back country bear hunts by horse back into the Historic Gilmore Ranch cost $3,000.00 per hunter
Lodge hunting out of the Whitebird Summit Lodge. We now have hunts that do not require going into the back country for those hunters that may be looking for a differant type of hunt. We offer hunts out of the Whitebird Summit Lodge during the Spring and Fall Season. We have two differant areas to hunt depending upon weather conditions. One area is 4000 acres of private land that has not been outfitted in the past for public hunting. This area is south of the lodge and spring comes much earlier. We will use atv’s and horse back for these hunts. We will aslo offer hunts along the South Fork of the Clearwater River which is forested land and has proven in the past to produce some of our larger bears. These hunts be able to be driven by truck to your stand. Our hunts are all done with stands or ground blinds. We expect many color phase bears out of both of these areas. Both hunts are wonderful for a family activity as you can fish along the Salmon River in the morning before you head out to your bait. The lodge is very sutible for families, we can add horse trail rides to the package for a family activity.
