There is Nothing More Thrilling than Hunting a Mature Bull Elk!
In our research, we have found that non guided hunters are successful 7-12% of the time. This includes cows, calves, and bull harvested with gun and bow hunts everywhere. While outfitters across the west harvest bulls 17-21% annually, our actual harvest on branch antlered bulls is over 50%. Which is better than double the average! Every year, bulls between 350 and 400 B&C are harvested or seen in our area.
Now, we agree that success hinges on various factors. A hunter’s physical condition, weather, and good ol luck, all play a major role in elk hunting. Our experienced guides and staff will do everything they can to get you on your trophy bull. All you need to bring is the luck!
We do a lot of stalking, calling and hiking, and if we need to, we will ride horses to find where the bulls are hanging out. We do a lot of hunting over wallows and watching for their cows during this hunt. As the rut peaks, the cows are as good as bait! Find them, and you are sure to find a bull chasing them.
Our Elk Hunts are 7 days and fully guided. Our hunts take place out of the Historic Gilmore Ranch cabin, 20 mile tent camp site, Pitnear tent camp, and the Whitebird Summit Lodge. So go ahead and remodel the living room for your spouse, and be sure you make room for your trophy Idaho Elk!

We shoot only 5×5 bulls and bigger to ensure good bull recruitment and mature animals for the future. That is why we can respectfully state that we average 50% success on our guided rifle Idaho Elk hunts.
The Gilmore Ranch hunt
We have 500 private acres that are surrounded by national forest and is only accessible by horseback or foot, which gives this area very little hunting pressure.
20 mile camp and Pitnear camp
These are both remote back country tent camps with little to no other hunting pressure, as both are roadless areas and are accessed only by foot or horseback.
