Our team has managed this area to produce some of the greatest over the counter bulls in the state. Over the last 17 years we have held true to one fundamental belief; let the young bulls live and the old bulls hit the ground. We only take 5×5 bulls or larger and due to this practice we were able to harvest a 20 year old bull in the 2015 season, along with many other great bulls.
Whether you are looking for an up close and personal experience with a rutting bull during archery season or an opportunity to watch your rifle go to work, L.U.O has the hunt for you.
We offer peak of the rut backcountry and easy access deer hunts. At the Gilmore Ranch, the deer vary between 130″-180″ bucks being taken every year. To date, we have had a continuous 100% success rate year after year.
These bucks are practically blind to people with their noses lowered to the ground trying to find their next partner and occasionally, a good fight. Rattling, grunting, still-hunting, and glassing are all options at this remote area. If you’ll show up with a tag and a rifle, we’ll show up and treat you to the hunt of a lifetime.
If you are like us, you love a good challenge. If you are really like us, you’ll love a good chase to go along with it. Mountain Lions are incredible animals and we are fortunate enough to have some of the largest cats in North America. Last year we took 5 record book qualifying cats out of the 10 harvested. Our area is bordering the Frank Church Wilderness where the cats come pouring out of every year in pursuit of the wintering big game such as deer and elk. This migration allows us to have a fresh group of large cats available to hunt year after year.
“It’s your hunt! So how would you like to harvest your bear?” We ask this because we offer many different hunting methods including; over-bait hunting, both backcountry and out of our lodge on the Salmon River; spot and stalk; and last, but definitely not least, hound hunting. As you can see, it completely depends on how you want to take your bear.
If you are looking to see many different bears, we recommend over-bait hunts. If you are looking to stretch your barrel, we recommend spot and stalk. If you are looking for a chase that ends with you standing a few yards from a bruin, run with the hounds! All options can be done archery hunting if that is what you are looking for, as we’ve said, “It’s your hunt!”by lockeyu and comments are closed.
